Food, water, and essential supplies

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” – Hebrews 13:16

In recent years, Kenya has faced one of the worst droughts in decades

Repeated failed rainy seasons, rising food prices, economic hardship following COVID-19, and global instability have left millions of people struggling to survive.

For people living with disabilities, the challenges can be even greater.

Accessing food distribution points, collecting clean water, or reaching medical care can become almost impossible without support, mobility aids, or inclusive emergency services. Families already living in poverty are often pushed even further into crisis as livestock die, harvests fail, and essential supplies become harder to afford.

Julius is among many people caught up in the evolving drought crisis. Like others living with disability in affected communities, he faced growing uncertainty as food and water shortages worsened around him.

Through local partners, cbm has worked to help vulnerable people with disabilities and their families gain access to emergency support including food supplies, clean water, medical assistance, and essential mobility aids such as crutches and wheelchairs.

This work is about more than immediate relief. Inclusive humanitarian support helps ensure people with disabilities are not left behind during times of crisis and can access the assistance they need with dignity and safety.

Across Kenya, communities continue to show remarkable resilience in the face of ongoing hardship. Together with local partners, cbm remains committed to supporting people with disabilities during emergencies and helping build stronger, more inclusive communities for the future.
