About Us

Where Funds Go

At cbm, our work is guided by our mission, vision, and values.

Stewardship of your gifts

It is only with the support of generous people like you that cbm New Zealand can continue to bring hope and transformation in the world.

How you partner with us

Your generosity supports our work in various ways. Most of our funding comes from individual supporters and organisations through one-off gifts, regular giving, child sponsorship, and bequests.

Your gifts help cbm New Zealand contribute towards our vision of an inclusive world for people with disabilities. Your gift is used carefully and responsibly in line with your intentions, or, where funds exceed what is required for a specific purpose, directed to where the need is greatest.

Working with Government partners

We are also grateful for our partnership with the New Zealand Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), who provide grant funding for a number of our programmes. Their support means the impact of your giving can reach even further.

We work alongside MFAT to deliver high-impact programmes that empower people with disabilities for inclusion and advancement, where there is alignment between MFAT and CBM Global priorities. Annual reports are submitted to MFAT for each programme, along with completion reports at the end of each programme. We value this strong partnership and acknowledge MFAT’s significant contribution.

We also advocate for disability inclusion through sector engagement led by MFAT, and promote inclusive international development both in New Zealand and overseas.

How your gifts are used

Drawing on more than 115 years of experience and guided by Christian values, cbm works alongside people with disabilities in the world’s poorest places to break the cycle of poverty and exclusion, and to help build inclusive communities where everyone can enjoy their human rights and reach their full potential.

We support programmes in low- and middle-income countries across Africa, the Pacific, and South East Asia. These programmes strengthen inclusive development, provide disability inclusion expertise, and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities.

This includes improving access to health services, education and livelihoods, strengthening local organisations, and working in partnership with communities so people with disabilities can thrive.

Our activities include partner assessments and audits, training for individuals and organisations, programme visits, and advisory support in areas such as disability inclusion and disaster preparedness. All our work is guided by our mission, vision, and values.

This work is made possible through the dedication of our programme teams in New Zealand and our CBM Global colleagues around the world. It is supported by our wider team, who ensure strong communication with supporters and funding partners, and uphold the highest standards of administration, finance, and compliance.

Every programme supported by cbm New Zealand is implemented and monitored in coordination with CBM Global Country Teams and partners. We follow clear indicators and an impact reporting methodology to measure progress and outcomes. Monitoring and evaluation visits are carried out by both New Zealand-based staff and CBM Global colleagues.
