Because of you… Alheri’s prayers were answered

Alheri in Nigeria receiving life-changing obstetric fistula surgery at a cbm-funded hospital.

Alheri (2nd from left) developed obstetric fistula after the birth of her sixth child – who tragically did not survive. An unsuccessful surgery in 2009 left her without hope of recovery from this debilitating condition.

For two decades, Alheri endured the daily shame and hardship of living with obstetric fistula. She was forced to rely on costly adult diapers, draining her finances and isolating her from her community.

Just when all seemed lost, Alheri heard about the cbm-funded women’s health programme during a community outreach.

Could this be the gift from God she had been praying for?

Alheri reached out – and to her amazement, she was welcomed into the hospital, where she learned that treatment to restore her dignity would be completely free.

Thanks to generous gifts like yours, she received the life-changing surgery she so desperately needed, along with loving aftercare.

Today, Alheri is fully healed. After 20 long years of suffering, she can once again take part in daily life – free from the smell, shame and isolation of obstetric fistula.

Your generosity is restoring hope and dignity to Alheri – and to many other mothers like her.
