Armon

Armon in the Philippines received sight-saving cataract surgery at a cbm-funded hospital.

Help restore sight to children and adults, like Armon, living in darkness in the world’s poorest places.

“The Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down.” – Psalm 146:8

In the outskirts of Bacolod City in the Philippines, where many families live day-to-day with very little, 27-year-old Armon was doing everything he could to provide for his family.

A young father with a four-year-old son, and another baby on the way, he worked hard to support those he loved.

But suddenly, everything changed.

After a motorcycle accident, Armon’s vision began to blur. At first, he tried to carry on, continuing his job at a call centre. But the pain in his eyes grew worse. Light became unbearable. Faces faded.

Soon, Armon could no longer work.

“I’m not able to see very well… I rely upon my siblings to provide for my basic needs,” he shared.

As his sight faded, so did his independence. He had to leave work. He couldn’t care for his pregnant wife. He couldn’t even prepare his own meals. The man who once provided for his family now feared becoming a burden to them.

And as if this hardship wasn’t enough, tragedy struck.

Sadly, Armon’s father passed away. In the midst of grief, uncertainty, and loss, Armon held onto one hope…

That he might somehow regain his sight in time to see his child being born.

Armon in the Philippines received sight-saving cataract surgery at a cbm-funded hospital.

“I wish to be able to see my child’s face… right after my wife has given birth.”

Can you imagine that longing? Not knowing if you will ever see your child’s face. To feel your world closing in – physically, emotionally, financially. And yet, this is the reality for millions of people living with cataracts in the world’s poorest places.

But here is the extraordinary truth…

Cataract blindness is treatable.

With a simple, low-cost surgery, sight can be restored. Lives can be transformed. Futures can be rewritten.

Please will you prayerfully consider giving a generous gift today to help provide sight-saving surgery for more people like Armon?

When Armon attended a screening organised by a cbm-funded hospital, he was given the opportunity he had been praying for – a chance to have his cataracts removed.

Despite everything he was facing, Armon courageously stepped forward for surgery.

“I was a little bit nervous… but mostly so excited to see again.”

His surgery was performed under local anaesthetic. In a quick 12-minute operation, the surgeon gently removed the clouded lens from Armon’s right eye and replaced it with a clear new one. The next day, when the eye patch was removed…

Armon could see!

For the first time in weeks, his world came back into focus – the faces of those around him, the light, the life he thought he might lose.

“It is wonderful because I can see again… I am so very thankful.”

What a moment that must have been. After weeks of fear and dependence – hope returned. And perhaps most precious of all…

Armon would be able to actually see his wife again. To be present for the birth of his second child. To hold his family close and look into their faces.

“I am excited to see my child and my wife… it’s perfect timing.”

Thanks to the generosity of compassionate supporters, Armon’s story did not end in blindness.

It became a story of restoration.

A story of answered prayer.

A story of new beginnings.

“This will make a big difference in my life… the Lord gave me another chance to see.”

This is the impact your gift can have. Just $35 can restore sight for an adult. $230 can give a child the chance to see clearly for life.

Your gift today can help restore sight – and with it, dignity, independence, and opportunity.

Without this support, many people like Armon would remain trapped in a cycle of poverty and disability.

Unable to work. Unable to care for their families. Unable to fully participate in life.

But your generosity can change that.

Because when someone regains their sight, they can return to work, support their loved ones, and rebuild their future.

After his surgery, Armon shared a simple but powerful message:

“Thank you for my miracle. Now I can fully participate in family life again.”

Isn’t that what we all long for?

To be together. To belong. To live with dignity and hope.

Today you have the opportunity to help make more miracles like this possible.

There are still so many adults and children waiting – hoping, praying, longing for the chance to see again.

Your gift today can help reach them.

It can help fund life-changing surgeries through cbm-supported programmes.

It can help send skilled medical teams into communities where people have no other access to care.

It can help ensure that no one is left behind simply because they are poor.

Without timely surgery, sight loss from cataracts can become permanent – especially for children.

The need is urgent. The solution is simple. And the impact is extraordinary.

Please don’t wait. Your gift today could be the reason someone sees again tomorrow.

Thank you for your compassion, your faith, and your generosity.

Through you, lives are being transformed. Through you, prayers are being answered. Through you, hope is being restored.

Thank you for your kind and caring heart.
